Great Leaps(K-12)
Great Leaps is a program that is disigned for all ages who are at risk for/or have significant reading problems.
Purpose: The overall purpose of the program is to build reading accuracy and speed. Students work one on one with an instructor. There a three levels of stimuli: phonics, sight phrases, and oral reading stories. Each stimuli is tested for one minute. Phonics mainly focuses on developing and mastering sight-sound relationships and sound awareness. This area takes students from identifying sounds in isolation to be able to sound out CVC, CVCC, and CVCE patterns. The sight phrases centers on accurate word identification and fluent reading of sight words in phrases, for example: these, of, off, and from. Stories are design for all levels for reading fluency only.
